About Us

Founded by former assistant prosecutors, John H. May and Bruce Roth, The Personal Injury Law Group was born out of a need for superior representation for crime victims in the Lancaster County area. With a proven track record for protecting victim's rights, The Personal Injury Law Group puts over 25 years of litigation experience and a reputation for honesty and integrity to work for our clients. In addition to the representation of crime victims, we also handle cases involving auto accidents, worker's compensation, product liability and premises liability.

Meet The Team

John H. May:

John H. May, co-founder of The Personal Injury Law Group, brings extensive trial experience and a passion for protecting victim's rights to the law firm. In addition to practicing law with the Personal Injury Law Group, John continues his work with May, Metzger and Zimmerman, LLP, where he represents the third generation of the May family to practice law with the firm since 1929.

Before practicing law in the private sector, John spent 3 years serving in the Office of the District Attorney where he served as an assistant district attorney, prosecuting more than 20 jury trials. John quickly rose through the ranks in the office, and at the time of his departure oversaw the Child Abuse Unit, where he successfully prosecuted both felony and misdemeanor sexual offenses committed against children.

Prior to joining the DA's Office, John was the law clerk to the Honorable Joseph C. Madenspacher, judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Lancaster County. May worked with Judge Madenspacher in the judge's first year on the bench after 8 years as the District Attorney of Lancaster County. During this year, Judge Madenspacher heard family law cases almost exclusively, which allowed John to gain a keen understanding of domestic law.

John moved to Lancaster in 2000 after meeting his wife in New York City. While in New York, he was employed as an Assistant Agent for the SFX Sports Group, Inc., a sports and entertainment agency.

An avid outdoorsman, John enjoys fly fishing and being outside. He is married with two small children. He works extensively as a volunteer attorney through the Lancaster County Bar Association's Volunteer Attorney Program, and is a founding member and Board President of the Lancaster County Children's OASIS -- a forensic examination center for child victims of sexual abuse. John is a graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School in Lancaster City.

Bruce Roth

Bruce brings extensive trial experience to the firm after prosecuting numerous jury trials while employed by the District Attorney's Office of Lancaster County. While working as a prosecutor, Bruce quickly distinguished himself as a skillful and successful trial lawyer.

Prior to joining the DA's Office, Bruce was a law clerk to the Honorable Louis J. Farina, currently the President Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Lancaster County.

Bruce returned to Lancaster in 1991 after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Prior to that he was employed as a Claims Examiner for the Veterans Administration in Philadelphia, PA.

An accomplished musician, Bruce enjoys music and literature.
